In Fortune’s Shadow is “John Woo meets The Matrix” or “It’s a Wonderful Life with guns.”
There’s a legendary figure whispered about in the shadows, an illusive myth known only as The Man with Answers. Once a noble knight of the Round Table, he now drifts through the modern-day underworld, cloaked in mystery. According to legend, if you’re lucky—or bold—enough to find him and share a meal at a Chinese restaurant, the fortune cookie at the end won’t offer vague wisdom. Instead, it will reveal the true meaning of your life. Nate, another former knight still bound by a strict code of honor, is given a near-impossible task: he has just three days to track down The Man and uncover the meaning of his existence—or suffer a dire fate.
But as Nate dives deeper into his quest, he discovers that both The Man and the answers he seeks are far more complex than he ever imagined.
This film is an action thriller in the vein of the extremely popular John Wick series. The Underneath series will comprise high-concept films which all take place in the same cinematic universe — a realistic setting, albeit with subtle supernatural flavors hiding just around every corner.
This kind of world building is highly sought after in today’s marketplace, best typified by the incredible success of Marvel and their many films and spin-off TV series. Through interconnectivity, many stories can be told that build a wider audience with the same property over time.
